Abstract:

In order to investigate the effect of cultivation DATE on qualitative and quantitative traits of Cuminum cyminum L. under rainfed conditions, an experiment was conducted in a randomized completely blocks design with five cultivation DATEs as the treatments and four replications at research station of Sirch. Morphological traits and also seed production were recorded. The results showed that all studied traits of cultivation DATE had significant differences at level of 1% probability. There were also significant differences among all studied traits of the year except flowering DATE. No significant differences were recorded for the weight of the seed production in different years. According to the results of the mean comparisons, maximum values of the studied traits were recorded for the cultivation DATE of early February while maximum seed production and seed yield were obtained in 24th February. Therefore, regarding yield production 24th of February was identified as the best DATE for cultivation. Significant differences of the traits indicate the high variability of the climate conditions in Sirch Research Station.

Abstract:

In Iran, soybean (Glycin max L.) is usually grown in Golestan and Mazandaran provinces due to its special ecological demands. About 60,000 to 70,000 hectares of the lands in Golestan province are used to cultivate this crop each year. Given that the identification of factors that improve the agronomic conditions can be influential in improving the production of this oil crop, a split-plot experiment including two factors and 12 treatments was carried out with four replications. It followed a randomized complete blocks design and was conducted in Ali Abad Katool region (Kamalan Zone) in 2010. The main factor included the planting DATE at six levels (2th, 12st, and 22nd of July and 1st, 11th, and 21st of August) and the second factor included nitrogen fertilizer at 2 levels (0 and 25 kg/ha pure nitrogen). The results indicated that the number of healthy pods in the whole plant, the main stem, and the secondary branch was influenced by the planting DATE. The 2nd of July was the best planting DATE in comparison to the other times due to the average grain yield amounting to 3941 kg per hectare. In addition, nitrogen had a significant positive effect on grain yield. The results revealed that all the traits except for the number of seeds per pod decreased with a delay in cultivation. The interaction effect of the planting DATE and nitrogen was significant for the total number of healthy pods in the whole plant, the main stem, and the secondary branches. Generally speaking, considering the best time of cultivation can improve grain yield due to its appropriate growth period and an increase in yield component. In addition, applying nitrogen fertilizer, at least one time, can have a positive effect on soybean grain yield.

Abstract:

This study was carried out to evaluate the growth of Cucurbita pepo L. using nonlinear regression models. The experiment was carried out in a randomized complete blocks design with three replications at Research Farm of Abouraihan Campus, University of Tehran during the 2013 growing season. The planting DATEs were April 20th, June 20th and July 20th. In order to study the growth analysis, leaf area and dry weight changes were measured. Eight models were used to describe the dry weight variations (Logistic, Gompertz, Richards, Weibull, Linear Expression, Symmetric Linear and Beta 1 and 2 models), and three models (logistic, Gompertz and beta) were used to describe the trend of leaf area changes. The results showed that all models well described the changes in dry weight and leaf area (day after planting) and can be used in growth analysis studies. In this research, a beta-1 model was used in all three planting DATEs to estimate leaf area and dry matter index. Among the planting DATEs, the highest leaf area index and dry matter were produced in April 20th and June 20th with 1. 78 and 1379 g / m2, respectively. The best time to plant of C. pepo L. in the Varamin is June.

Abstract:

DATEs are one of the most important agricultural products exported from Iran. This plant is sensitive to environmental conditions and is not able to live and reproduce in all hot and dry areas in terms of quantity and quality. DATEs have different varieties; each of them has the potential to adapt to a region of arid regions and can have the most production and economic yield in its proper place. Global warming in the last century has led planners to design pre-awareness programs and algorithms due to future climatic conditions in order to choose long-lived durable plants that can survive in future environmental conditions and have good economic yield. One of the best is the Maximum Entropy model. The aim of the present study is to identify the growth potentials of DATEs palm verities using CCSM4 model and scenarios of 2.6, 4.5, 0.6 and 8.5. The phonological data of cultivars were harvested by field method in 2016 and 2017. According to the model,  The results showed that the DATEs of Astamaran and Berhi DATEs are different in terms of the length of phonological growth and thermal needs until the fruit ripened, and the places prone to their growth during the 2050 and 2070 periods were not the same based on the model. In addition, to bioclimatic variables for the long-term use of long-lived perennial crops, the location data required for cultivation should be used to introduce different cultivars to the environment.

Abstract:

Background and Objectives: Nursing is one of the largest groups of health care providers that needs upDATEd information to improve quality and quantity of health care services, clinical activities, etc. In the meantime, evidence-based databases (such as Up-To-DATE Database) significantly contribute to improve performance and efficiency of health services by providing the latest findings on health issues. The present study aimed to survey the information seeking behavior and information needs of nurses working in Ahvaz hospitals affiliated with Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences in using Up-To-DATE database.Material and Methods: In this descriptive-analytical study, the statistical population consisted of 1246 nurses working in hospitals of Ahvaz University of Medical Sciences among which 293 nurses were selected. The required data were collected using a questionnaire developed by the researcher. Validity and reliability of the questionnaire were confirmed by Cronbach's alpha coefficient as 0.71. Descriptive statistics and Kruskal-Wallis Test were used for data analysis. Results: The results showed that most of the nurses needed information about new developments in the field of nursing and medications. A majority of the nurses used simple searching technique to find the required information. Most of the nurses aimed to upDATE their information using Up-To-DATE Database. The main barrier to upDATE information was shortage of time. Conclusion: Therefore, it is essential to teach information skills to nurses; so that they can access modern and upDATEd information in the field of nursing and obtain the latest information in this field from evidence-based information sources and databases.

Abstract:

The fundamental elements of nature, namely earth, water, air and sunshine should be in a healthy state, well balanced with the criteria of equilibrium and untainted so that the environment would remain pleasant and lively. Hence, there will be plant, animal and human in an existential balance. Man himself is the major polluter and destructor of environment. The environment, in turn, is a large collection of elements and a variety of active and reactive factors, developed and evolved for millions of years. As we are witnessing, any disturbance and destruction of nature has unrepiarable and harmful consequences. The protection of environment from man's disturbance calls for formulating appropriate regulations and rules and their right and timely enforcement. Yet, it is more important to cultivate the protection of environment in each and every individual including the laypeople and authorities. If we do not believe in what we are doing, we will fail to do what we are obliged to do. In the Holy Quran, frequent mentions have been made of the prostration of the earth, heaven, mountains, plants, animals and whatever exists in the universe. A type of spirit and expressiveness exists in everything. In other words, the secret of life is hidden in the living and the lifeless. Be it as it may, we should not disturb and destroy none of these things, neither should we find theoretical or artificial justification for the destruction of environment. Otherwise, we will disappoint the present and future generations, and will be responsible for our deeds against the truth. Man continues to strive to make a better and more convenient life for himself and to develop faster vehicles. If these are down properly, they will be useful for him but exploiting the environment is often destructive. The best productivity is to use the resources in a way that it would be less destructive and the environment is untainted minimally and that restoration and reconstruction cycles revive the environment rather than destroying it.

Abstract:

The English literature component has been around in the Malaysian Education system since 2000. However, literature as a subject has always been learned more for transactional purposes rather than for its aesthetic value. Basically, a regurgitation of knowledge from years of learning, poured out in one major examination. In this research, the researcher applies a teaching method, called the literature circle in a classroom to study how it could be an effective way to learning literature beyond the classroom and for completing exam papers. Accompanying the literature circle activity is the writing of personal responses to gauge the students’ understanding and views on the literature component being studied. This paper discusses the findings of the study that investigates the effect of literature circle in the students’ personal responses and also to examine the students’ perception towards literature circle. The findings of this study, obtained via qualitative and quantitative instruments, comprising of observations, interviews, personal responses, and questionnaires, provide insights for educators and other researchers into another dimension of the teaching and learning of literature component.
